From Now to the end of the trimester, this classroom is a free art studio. You get to choose what kind of art you want to work on. Imagine this art room as a laboratory that has every tool you could ever need to create any kind of artwork you can imagine. All you need to do is bring an idea and we can help you with the tools or techniques or materials that you need in order to bring your ideas to fruition. During this time, you will be graded on the artistic behaviors that you use while you work. The artistic behaviors I am looking for are...
*Develop Craft * Envision * Engage and Persist * Observe * Understand Art Worlds * Express * Stretch and Explore * Reflect *
To start, brainstorm as many ideas as you can come up with for a possible art project topic. Think of things that interest you so your artwork will be meaningful to you. Use the brainstorming techniques we practiced in class: (30 circles, mind mapping, association, etc.) Then once you have a main topic, draw out 5 sketches of your ideas. Use different, interesting compositions, think about the details that will add interest to your project, think about the colors you will use and the size of your work. Before you start, present your idea to Mrs. Matlack for discussion and approval.
Your project can be any kind of drawing, painting, collage, photography, or some kind of 3-D work.
I am giving you a lot of freedom here, and with that freedom comes a lot of responsibility. Use your freedom wisely. Make sure you are using all materials safely and responsibly. Try not to waste supplies. Make sure that when you leave the studio, it is just as clean and organized (or cleaner and more organized!) than when you came in.
